Smart Tips To Help You Effectively Manage Your Boss
One universal aspect of working in any organization is having to dealing with a boss. Now sometimes you may luck out and have boss that is consistent, fair, and treats you with respect but more often than not, many people experience the exact opposite.


No matter the situation you find yourself in, there are a few key things that you can do to effectively manage your boss.

• Make every effort to make your boss look good in front of your organization, and more importantly in front of his/her boss.

• Whatever your role is, own it. Meaning take ownership of your duties and responsibilities and for your results whether good or bad.

• Be proactive and anticipate your boss’s needs before they request it.

• Both you and your boss are busy, so do things that save time and lead to greater efficiency,

• Check in with your boss at the beginning of the work week and simply ask him/her “What is the most important thing they need from you this week?”

• Your boss hates to be blindsided, so be sure to keep them in the loop on any new developments or potential problems.

• Don’t be too prideful to occasionally do seemingly menial tasks for your boss like pick up coffee.

• Your boss may not be aware of just what you are working on or doing so you should touch basis with them to let them know what you have accomplished and what you are working on.

• If you have great ideas that can increase productivity and/or profitability you should let your boss know and ask if you can schedule time to discuss your ideas.

• Demonstrate your leadership abilities by showing that you have an eye for talent and identify for your boss individuals you believe to have what it takes for various things like special projects and promotions.

• Prove that you can be discrete by handling any sensitive or confidential information with the upmost integrity.

• Don’t just be a “yes” man – provide your input even if it means that you have to disagree with your boss, just make sure you do it respectfully and in private.

• Be an advocate for your team or department.
